Camping Trip
Went camping on the weekend of Aug 22. Had a really good time around the campfire roasting marshmallows, playing riddle games, lounging on the shores of Lake Tahoe and jumping off the pier for a COLD swim, but there were some issues too, like the boat engine blowing out on the guys, getting in trouble by the ranger about illegal firewood, which was so embarrassing I won't elaborate beyond that, and complaints about our noise level the first night. All in all, everyone had fun and the kids keep talking about going back, so there's definitely more of that to come next summer. Oh, and I think I got over my fear of poison oak. My rash finally went away. My dermatologist, who I vow never to go back to because he came across a bit pompous and very impersonable, wanted to treat me for scabies even though my skin test came out negative for it, and the symptoms were different. But, since he couldn't come up with any other diagnoses he wanted to be able to rule out scabies completely. However, I kept forgetting to pick up the cream and the rash went away on its own, so I left it at that. If it comes back I'm just going to see a new doctor.
Little Boy Aidan
Aidan, dubbed "Little Boy" because he is, got into a fight at school a couple weeks ago. The principal said he admitted to grabbing and kneeing a boy and telling him, "I know karate." Aidan denies all of that and said he only punched the kid once on the chest because the kid pushed him down first. I asked why he admitted to those other things and he said he didn't hear her (the principal) or understand her or something. Anyway, it's over now and it was a one-time deal, so it's water under the bridge, but I was just surprised 'cause Aidan is usually so friendly and popular with the kids.
Pooh On My Face
Yesterday Brody was touching my "Cindy Crawford/Modonna" mole, whatever you wanna call it, and I could tell he was slightly amused so I playfully asked him, "What is that?" His answer....."Pooh." Then he tried to scratch it off!

Dinner Party and Back to School
Well, it seems like just a few days ago I was talking about the kids starting summer break and here we are, back to school already. Following our Napa trip, which was a blast, we had an "old hollywood" themed dinner party with the family to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Pictures from both events will be posted shortly. My sis and her family just moved into town. I'm totally excited about having them here. The kids started school yesterday. I hate when summer ends because everytime they go up one grade, it seems like they take a giant step forward in life and it's just another reminder that they're growing up and we're getting old! I found out that one of our teachers is brand new. This is her first year teaching, excluding student teaching and some substitute work she did. She's quite young and looks kind of like the actress Jaime King. I don't discriminate against new teachers. Sometimes the new ones have the freshest ideas and the most energy, so we'll see how things go.
